Kyochon Chicken to Re-Enter Japan Under Multi-Unit Franchise Deal with Arai Shoji
South Korean fried chicken brand Kyochon Chicken is returning to Japan through a strategic memorandum of understanding with food distributor Arai Shoji, targeting a first Tokyo store in the first half of 2027 under a multi-unit franchise structure.

A Partner-Led Return to Japan
Kyochon F&B, operator of South Korea’s Kyochon Chicken franchise, is set to return to Japan, targeting the opening of its first Tokyo store in the first half of 2027.
The company has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Japanese food distribution company Arai Shoji to develop the brand in Japan under a multi-unit franchise structure, with Arai Shoji expected to build multiple locations as the business expands.
Multi-Unit Model, Not Single Stores
Tokyo will serve as the entry point, followed by a phased rollout into cities surrounding the capital. The partnership covers store operations, quality management, marketing and training — Kyochon providing franchise know-how, Arai Shoji contributing Japanese food and distribution market expertise.
